What program is best for your child?

Some children do well in large groups and will do just fine in a preschool with large classes. Others are not comfortable in a crowd. As children's temperaments vary, each child's level of comfort with free-time activities versus more structured time should be taken into consideration when choosing a program.

What are Savoir Faire's goals and philosophy?

At Savoir Faire we teach the whole child. We provide a stimulating and nurturing environment that lets kids be kids while at the same time gently accommodating their social, emotional, intellectual growth. In our classes, expect to see, free play time, and games that promote large motor skills, storybooks about friendship and easels set up to paint rainbows and sunsets! Pre literacy activities and appropriate kindergarten readiness skills are sprinkled in throughout the class. All of this is done immersion style in French or Spanish. Most of all we aim to have engaged bodies and smiling faces and we do! Our goal is for your child to acquire the foundations of a second language as they develop the appropriate skills to make them happy and successful children on their continuing learning journey.

                                                                   

How do we handle discipline?

The staff at Savoir Faire understands the natural development of social, emotional, and intellectual behavior in children. We see our role as gentle guides through these learning stages. We practice positive discipline that emphasizes the teaching of responsibility and problem solving. Our goal is for children to learn acceptable behavior without suffering from humiliation or resentment.

Security at Savoir Faire

Security and safety are a priority at Savoir Faire. You will find the classroom and bathroom doors locked at all times during the day. The children are escorted to and from the bathrooms by an adult and of course the children are never left alone in the classroom even for a minute. There is an intercom system throughout the school so teachers are able to contact the office immediately should the need arise. Our staff is also certified in CPR.

Characteristics of our staff

Our teachers are native language speakers with university educations. At Savoir Faire we provide on-going early childhood education training for our staff. Savoir Faire's directors both have many years of teaching experience and are also versed in current early childhood educational theory. Our staff has been with us for as long as our program has existed and is dedicated to providing the best possible first school and first language experience. Our class size is very small, three to six students, which allows for a lot of individual attention for each student. Most importantly, the staff at Savoir Faire, from the secretaries to the directors to the teachers is all committed to providing a warm, accepting and caring environment. Your child will always feel welcomed here everyday.
